One of KEPAKY’s signature programs is the “Yellow Line of Help and Solidarity”, launched in spring 2020 during the COVID‑19 pandemic, when many people lost their jobs and needed support for their families. In 2025, it celebrated its 5th anniversary, having begun as a volunteer effort under exceptional conditions, and has since become a lifeline for thousands of households in Cyprus.
Initially a humanitarian collaboration between KEPAKY, AEL FC under Mr. Andreas Sofocleous, actor and KEPAKY friend Kostas Vichas, and business volunteers, the goal was to address the crisis’s effects. Target groups included the unemployed, recipients of the Guaranteed Minimum Income (EEE), single-parent families, pensioners, families with many children, people with disabilities, third-country nationals, cancer patients, war victims, and other vulnerable populations.
Volunteers delivered essential food packages directly during lockdown. KEPAKY worked with hotels, producers, and businesses to collect surplus items and reduce food waste. Collaborations were also established with municipalities, villages, schools, academies, and organizations to identify those in need, ensuring complete confidentiality and dignity.
As the economic fallout from the war in Ukraine hit from summer 2022 on, demand for assistance increased. Today, those supported by the Yellow Line also receive free psychological and social support via individual sessions and home visits.
By the numbers:
- Over 67,000 food packages distributed
