Board Members

Azucena Sofocleous was born in Mexico and she studied at the National School of Anthropology and History in Mexico City with a major in Social Anthropology. She completed her studies in History and Ethnography at the Lomonosov National University in Moscow. She lives with her family in the city of Limassol since 1993.

She holds a Licensed Guide Diploma from the School of Guides of the Cyprus Tourism Organisation. She founded and ran the tourist agency Pandora Travel. She has taught Spanish language in public high schools in Limassol and Larnaka. She is a member of the Limassol Intercultural Council. She has directed the television station Plus tv. Since 2008 until today she is the President of the KEPAKY Foundation, which with the contribution of its  Board of Directors, aims at the well-being of our natural and social environment for an optimistic future for the new generations.

Her husband Andreas Sofocleous, a strong comrade on the road of solidarity and their two children Ernesto and Christina are active members of the foundation’s board. She has four wonderful grandchildren, Sebastian, Diego, Azucenita and Maria. She dedicates her social work to her homelands, Cyprus and Mexico and especially, to her grandchildren.

Andreas Sofocleous is a prominent figure in Cyprus – a lawyer, entrepreneur, and former president of AEL Football Club, which he led for nearly 15 years. Since 2008, he has been the founder of KEPAKY (Centre for the Provision of Social Services), an organization with deep and lasting social impact.

Born into a working-class, rural family with strong values of social responsibility and solidarity, he was raised with core principles: ethical integrity, love for one’s fellow human being, respect, and a constant commitment to equal rights.

Upon achieving financial stability, he established KEPAKY with the primary goal of supporting students through financial aid. Over time, his mission expanded to include support for schools, athletes, his hometown Pelendri, individuals with disabilities, environmental protection, and various other social initiatives.

One of his most significant contributions is the creation of the “Yellow Line” program, which, since the onset of the 2020 pandemic, has distributed thousands of food packages to vulnerable citizens across Cyprus. Equally impactful is his support for families affected by war, the establishment of a nursery school, and the implementation of educational and economic integration programs for Ukrainian refugees. All of these initiatives have been made possible thanks to the valuable collaboration of friends, volunteers, and members of KEPAKY’s Board of Directors.

Andreas Sofocleous studied law in the Soviet Union, where he graduated with distinction. He is the founder and managing partner of ANDREAS SOFOCLEOUS & CO. (est. 14/03/19), a law firm that evolved into ANDREAS M. SOFOCLEOUS & CO. LLC.
