Many people risk their lives due to the lack of proper and accessible sidewalks, while others become isolated and dependent on others due to the lack of accessibility. For this reason, the Foundation created a short film titled: “Accessibility in the City for All.” The video was produced as part of a campaign to raise awareness and inform the public about the issue of accessibility in urban environments.
As part of this campaign, a walk through the city of Limassol was organized, with the participation of the European Social Forum Cyprus, the Cyprus Paraplegic Organization, and volunteers from various social groups, including actors, elderly people, mothers with strollers, individuals with mobility issues, and a representative of the Limassol Municipality. The aim was to identify the challenges faced by various groups of people—people with disabilities or mobility difficulties—during their everyday outings, particularly those related to ramps, sidewalk access, public toilets, and accessible parking spaces.
During the walk, informational leaflets were also distributed to raise awareness on the topic. The purpose of this initiative was to send a message of change and improvement in our way of life, and to promote an inclusive, friendly environment for all individuals—something that depends both on the relevant authorities and on each one of us individually.
